![]() ![]() OUR FOUNDATION IS ROOTED IN THREE MAIN AREAS Stewardship of money increases the opportunity and equity for those most in need. We value treating all people with respect and equality and have much to learn from each other. Ethical behavior is of utmost importance. We value our recipients as partners and respect all those involved as equal. We depend on counsel from outside sources and specialists. We seek to be humble and mindful of our actions and words. We fund, shape, and rely on others to act and implement projects. Philanthropy plays an important yet limited role in our active lives. Our Family Foundation is driven by the interests and passions of the greater Flahive clan. We are life learners with the desire to grow and learn through our work. OUR FOUNDATION IS FOUNDED AND GUIDED BY THE FOLLOWING PRINCIPLES The Foundation does not give grants to individuals. The Flahive Family Foundation restricts all grant-making to 501(c)(3) organizations. This understanding formed their desire and moreover, a sense of responsibility to give back to the areas they believe have the most impact on people around the world. ![]() They recognized that as Americans, they had benefited from excellent schools, great health care and a vibrant economic system. The Flahive Family Foundation was founded in October of 2005 out of the family’s collective gratitude and desire to give back. ![]() Roger and Katherine have three children: Megan (1985), Shannon (1987) and Derrik (1991). Katherine received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in nursing from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Roger has two degrees in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. Beginning their life together as college students, they value hard work and education. Roger Flahive married Katherine Nelson in Sterling, Colorado in 1982. ![]()
